Work in progress: Ideas for a small patio garden

This small patio garden belongs to a stylish loft apartment in a historical building in the vibrant city center of Haarlem. The interior of the apartment is modern and contemporary, but not too overloaded, while the decoration is inspired on the classical Dutch ‘Delft Blue’. The owner was looking for a way to link the patio with the rest of the house and to establish a functional but stylish outdoor space. We came up with the idea of using white vase shaped flower pots and contemporary furniture to match the interior style. We have used evergreen climbers and shade lovers like Hosta, Helleborus and Geranium to add texture and colour. At night, a drammatical effect will be achieved  by illuminting the old brickstone with small ground spots.
