Garden Design

Our portfolio of work includes a wide range of garden designs, from small contemporary roof terraces to large-scale classical gardens. Our gardens employ lush and luxuriant planting, strong architectural lines, and the elegant use of colour. The garden design process is a collaborative one, where we listen intently to clients to ensure their needs are interpreted successfully in the final plan. While developing the design, we aim to reflect closely the styling, decoration, and colour palette of the interior of the home. In order to achieve this strong visual relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces, we work regularly with architects and interior designers. We also work with a selected group of landscape contractors and lighting design specialists to ensure that projects are completed in a smooth and seamless fashion

The Design Process

Initial consultation
This is free and usually takes an hour or so The initial consultation usually takes an hour or so and is of no cost to the client. We meet and take a look at the site, show you examples of our work, and also discuss your ideas, brief and budget. Once you have expressed an interest in taking it further we will send written confirmation with a quotation for the design of your garden.

Concept design
If our proposal is acceptable, we then ask for written confirmation that you would like us to proceed. Next we complete a measured survey and analyse the site, soil, and existing plantings. Now comes the fun part! We present you with initial design and perspective sketches illustrating our various ideas for your garden, along with samples of materials and finishes. All our ideas are up for discussion – we want to ensure we understand your requirements and desires exactly.

Detail design
After listening intently to your feedback and engaging in further discussions, we develop our initial ideas into detailed plans and specifications. These plans include construction and setting-out drawings that can be issued to recommended landscape contractors, so that they can provide cost estimates and ultimately build your garden. We will produce a planting plan and detailed planting schedule identifying all the existing and proposed plants. The schedule details all plant names, types, quantities, and sizes at the time of planting.

Implementation
Once everything has been agreed upon, the appointed contractor will go ahead and build your garden. If you would like us to oversee the construction work, we will do this to ensure things get built correctly in order that your dream garden becomes a reality.
