London’s new fragrant garden
A new scented garden is enriching the air of Battersea Park in London. The Old English Garden, run by garden charity Thrive, is being supported by perfume house Jo Malone – the first of a series of horticulture projects it hopes to support around the world.
British garden designer Sarah Price has designed the garden using scented plants like those used in perfume-making. Jasminum officinale and Philadelphus provide the base notes while basil, lavender and mint give more specific ‘cameo’ scents.
The garden is the final stage in a four-year transformation and now provides a base for horticultural training and therapy.
