The VAT rate for renovating existing gardens has since 1 March 2013 been lowered from 21% to 6%. The Dutch State Secretary for Finance has decided today not to extend the reduced VAT after 31 december 2014. Only until the end of 2014 you will benefit from the reduced VAT rate of 6%

The facts:

– The scheme is confined to gardens that are at least two years old.

– The work has to be completed before 31 december 2014.

– The reduced tax rate will also be effective for the design services when the garden designer runs the complete project from design to
implementation

– The tax rate is to go back up to 21% with effect from 1 January 2015.

-The reduced rate only applies to labour costs and not to the materials used.
